At Antler, we know that trusting your rifle is essential. The “Expedition” model has been designed with the aim of going along with the hunter during crucial moments and ensuring that these moments become unforgettable hunting experiences.
The Expedition action is manufactured from high quality, match grade 416 stainless steel. It is drilled an tapped for Remington 700 bases secured with 8-40 screws.
We manufacture our own high-end, ultra-lightweight carbon fiber stocks. The fiber is stretched manually in the molds to increase rigidity in strategic places.
Carbon fiber has very interesting properties: it is 3x more rigid and 50% lighter than wood, which makes it a preferable component. In addition to being waterproof, resistant and requiring little care, carbon offers the advantage of never warping to create pressure points and unpredictable tension between the barrel and the stock. Our stocks evenly distribute recoil. They are equipped with patented “Limbsaver” brand pads which are recognized for their quality of recoil absorption.
The carbon fiber barrel is made up of a stainless steel barrel that has been profiled to be as thin as possible before wrapping it in several layers of carbon fiber. During manufacturing, the carbon fiber is first mixed with our resin formula before it is applied to the barrel on 3 different axes. Applying high temperature along the entire length of the barrel during this process allows the each individual strand of carbon fiber to adhere perfectly to the barrel. This method allows us to bond these separate components to obtain a uniform, single cylindrical body. The result allows us to obtain a lighter, stiffer and accurate barrel; which has the property of dissipating heat more quickly.
