A monster in the marsh. Hunting seasons are short, make every shot count with the best gas-operated autoloading shotgun you can get a grip on. The Maxus II Wicked Wing has a lot to offer a shotgunner: Reliability, superior shooting comfort, a great trigger, intuitive handling and appearance. This is one shotgun that looks as good as it performs with a Cerakote Burnt Bronze finish applied to the receiver and barrel for protection superior to bluing. Day after day, whatever the weather, the Maxus II Wicked Wing is built to deliver the goods whether the ducks are cupped up and dropping into your decoys or just giving them a passing glance.

Maximum reliability. From the day the Maxus was released, it promised to be the most reliable autoloader available — to say that it has lived up to that expectation is an understatement. The perfectly tuned Power Drive Gas System was designed to improve reliability across the ammunition spectrum and reduce felt recoil. The Maxus also featured the proven Lightning Trigger with the fastest lock time of any autoloader in its class. Comfortable ergonomics, trim dimensions, excellent balance that promote a smooth swing and a host of innovative features all contributed to its status as the shotgun to have for the field, marsh and range.

Perfection, perfected. The Maxus II builds on the success of the original, and adds a new look and more features that improve shooting comfort, performance and speed without sacrificing an ounce of the proven reliability the Maxus has been lauded for.

A new SoftFlex cheek piece and 1-1/2″ thick Inflex Recoil Pad combine to further reduce felt recoil and ease the sting of 3-1/2″ magnum goose loads. Overmolded rubber panels that improve grip in all conditions have been added to the stock and forearm. The stock and forearm have been redesigned to be more comfortable. To fit an even broader range of shooters, the stock is now able to be easily trimmed up to 3/4″.

Step Up Your Shotgunning Game with the New Maxus II Autoloader.

The Maxus is yet another example of Browning shotgun perfection; delivering on the promise to be the most reliable, softest shooting, best handling gas-operated semi-auto ever. Even with the success the Maxus has earned, the gears of innovation are in constant motion here at Browning, and we are always hard at work developing innovative new products. The Maxus, however, is just too good to quit.

The new Maxus II shares the same foundational design and performance features that have made the original so revered, and includes an array of new refinements that will give you the edge in the field and in competition. The Maxus II is sleeker for a smoother swing and more intuitive pointing. A new Inflex Technology recoil pad and SoftFlex cheek pad combine to further reduce the recoil you feel from a day in the goose blind or the sporting clays range. Rubber overmoldings improve grip and oversized controls are easier to use. The forearm and magazine have been redesigned with a traditional, screw on cap.

Combined with the proven reliability of the orignal, the evolutionary improvements of the Maxus II have elevated the versatility, performance and handling of this already tremendous shotgun. The Maxus II is the shotgun with the goods to bring your game to the next level.

Power Drive Gas System

Gas operated shotguns offer the performance advantages of reduced recoil and faster operation, and the new Power Drive Gas System in the Maxus outperforms every other shotgun built.

Years of extensive research, prototyping and testing have resulted in a new gas piston that has been designed to be more reliable in all conditions, fire a wider selection of loads, reduce recoil and cycle shells faster. The new Power Drive gas piston features large exhaust ports that effectively dump gases faster on heavy loads, while the piston has an approximately 20% longer stroke for superior reliability with light loads.

An all-new, patented, enclosed seal design keeps powder residue out of the action for cleaner, reliable operation.  This — combined with the piston’s longer stroke travel — makes it particularly reliable with light loads. Power Drive equals outstanding performance.

Lightning Trigger

A solid performing trigger is something usually reserved for rifles and seldom found on shotguns. You will, however, find one on the Maxus. In fact, we’re so impressed with the new Lightning Trigger System in the Maxus, we think it might be the finest ever offered in an autoloading shotgun. The Lightning Trigger is designed to offer a smooth, crisp feel with minimal travel. With lock times averaging 5.20 milliseconds, the Lightning Trigger is 24% faster than the nearest competing autoloader, making every pull perfect. It’s also easy to remove for cleaning.

The Lightning Trigger is exclusive to the Browning Maxus.

Speed Load Plus

Speed Loading has been popular on Browning autoloaders for decades. Browning’s patent-pending feeding system sends the first shell loaded into the magazine directly into the chamber.

The “Plus” in Speed Load Plus means unloading is just as easy. On some autoloaders unloading the magazine requires the repetitive working of the action to chamber then eject shells one at a time. The speed unload feature makes emptying the magazine fast and easy, without having to do this. Speed Load has always been an essential feature for the most avid duck hunters who like the speed with which they can reload the chamber after unloading their magazine — to get back on the next birds faster.

“Speed loading” became synonymous with John Moses Browning’s Automatic 5 but was actually the invention of his son Val Browning (also a great gun designer) with the patent awarded in 1952.

Magazine Cut-Off

Several Browning autoloading shotguns utilize Browning’s exclusive Magazine Cut-Off, allowing the shooter to retain shells in the magazine and eject a shell from the chamber without cycling a shell from the magazine. This feature is invaluable whether you find yourself in a duck blind transitioning from duck loads to geese loads, or if you just want to safely remove a round from the chamber without the risk of chambering another round.

The Magazine Cut-Off feature is a legacy design found originally on the Automatic 5 — the breakthrough autoloader invented by John M. Browning over a century ago. It is a true Browning feature that has set Browning apart from other autoloaders from the very first.

Turnkey Magazine Plug

With most shotguns, the process of installing or removing a magazine plug is a chore. Not so with Browning shotguns fitted with the Turnkey Magazine Plug System. The innovative, patent-pending Turnkey Magazine Plug is quickly removed using any vehicle key. Combined with the Speed Lock Forearm, the magazine plug can be removed from the Maxus in just a few seconds.

Many people leave their magazine plug in all the time. Others, who are not waterfowlers, take theirs out for good. A few good reasons to be able to remove and reinstall yours easily might be:

You are using your Browning with Turnkey for hunting deer with slugs — and it is the same gun you use for waterfowl.
You hunt snow geese in the late seasons when no plug is required You hunt upland game in places where no plug is required and you will want more than three shots if you bust up a covey.
You are out West hunting jackrabbits (which don’t require a plug in your gun) and you are hunting waterfowl during the same time of year.

Whatever your reason, finally the hassle is gone when it comes to swapping your plug in and out. It is always good before every hunt requiring your plug to check it before you case your gun and load up. Of course, this is easy with the Browning Turnkey Magazine Plug.

Composite Stock

Composite stocks provide superior durability and accuracy as well as a defense against the elements that can cause wood stocks to warp and swell. Browning composite stocks are made from the toughest materials; many of them, such as the stock on the x-bolt are made from glass fiber reinforced polymers.

One of the keys to accuracy is consistency. Wood is a porous material, that while strong, is prone to swell and deform with exposure to humidity and heat. This can cause the stock to vary its pressure and contact with the barrel, thereby changing the point of impact on a zeroed rifle. Not all composite stocks are completely impervious to absorbing moisture and other shape deforming factors, but they tend to be more resistant than wood.

While it is hard to beat the classic looks of walnut and blued steel, synthetic stocks have come a long way toward being aesthetically pleasing. Virtually every camouflage finish in the Browning line is applied to a composite stock. Many models are available with a carbon fiber finish as well. Perhaps the greatest advantage that synthetic stocks provide is variety.

Invector-Plus

The proven Invector-Plus interchangeable choke tube system works hand-in-hand with Vector Pro and back-boring to offer consistent, dense shot patterns with just the constriction needed for the shooting situation. The longer choke taper inside an Invector-Plus choke tube produces consistent patterns with more uniform densities and fewer fliers. The superior design of the Invector-Plus system is far more durable than the choke systems found in our competitors’ guns, especially when shooting steel shot. Invector-Plus eliminates gases slipping between the choke tube and barrel that could damage the choke tube and the barrel.

Browning shotguns with Invector-Plus are supplied with a variety of choke selections and configurations depending on the model. Most Browning shotguns with Invector-Plus feature flush mounted versions in various finishes. Extended tubes are standard on some models and are also available as accessory items from Browning.

Back-Bored Technology

Browning was the first firearms company to offer factory back-boring to shotguns for reduced recoil and improved patterns. Back-boring increases the inside bore diameter to its ideal, maximum allowable specification. This reduces friction between the shot cup and the barrel, allowing the energy developed by the powder to propel the shot pellets to a higher velocity.

Reducing friction from the forcing cone on the shot column also results in fewer deformed pellets for more uniform patterns and keeps more pellets in the center of the pattern. Back-bored barrels work hand-in-hand with the Browning Invector-Plus™ interchangeable choke system.
