Modeled after our hugely popular Speed rifles, what makes this rifle unique to other X-Bolts is the use of barrel lengths that are 4″ shorter than normally designated for the caliber. The reduced barrel length keeps the overall length of the rifle short. Additional benefits include lighter weight and an increase in stiffness. The lightweight profile barrel is fluted to improve cooling for more consistency between shots. The end of the barrel is also belled slightly to accommodate a muzzle device with 5/8″-24 threading. A radial-style muzzle brake and thread protector are included and, with the shorter overall length of the rifle, turn it into a formidable brush gun.
X-Bolt Speed models are built to be accurate in tough conditions. In addition to all of the great features that contribute to the award-winning accuracy of the X-Bolt, Speed rifles also include the protection of Cerakote that offers improved protection to steel surfaces when compared to traditional blueing and a stable composite stock with Browning OVIX Camouflage.

With its introduction, the Browning X-Bolt set a new standard in the development of bolt-action rifles. It was the first that was designed from the start with one goal: Total Accuracy. From the design of the recoil pad to the adjustable trigger to the construction of the barrel, nearly every feature contributes to aiding the rifle, and you, shoot more accurately.

Receiver
- The design of the steel receiver reduces weight without sacrificing an ounce of strength.
Feather Trigger
- The three-lever Feather Trigger provides a clean, crisp pull with no take-up or creep, minimal overtravel and is adjustable from 3 to 5 lbs. (Factory pre-set at approximately 3-1/2 to 4 lbs.) The alloy trigger housing contains hard chromed steel components that are highly polished on all critical contact surfaces.
Free-Foating Barrel
- Every X-Bolt action is bedded into the stock at the front and rear action screws and recoil lug for a true free-floating barrel.
- Barrels are button rifled and triple checked for interior finish, straightness and air-gauged for uniformity. Every chamber is hand-reamed for precision accuracy and a recessed muzzle crown helps protect the rifling from damage.
X-Lock Scope Mounting System
- X-Lock mounts feature a four screws-per-base design that replaces the traditional two screw system to offer more accurate placement and more secure attachment to the receiver.
Rotary Magazine
- The rotary magazine is removeable, durable, easy to load and feeds rounds straight to the chamber from the center line, not off to the side like other rifles. This unique design holds U.S. patent numbers: 8,156,675; 8,484,875 and 8,745,912.
Top-Tang Safety
- The top-tang safety is easy to operate with the thumb. It blocks the trigger sear and features a firing pin block for added security.
Inflex Recoil Pad
- The Inflex recoil pad features internal directional ribs that move the comb down and away from the cheek to increase shooting comfort.
60° Bolt Lift
- Short 60˚ bolt lift is fast cycling and allows the hand to easily clear scopes. The bolt body is machined from solid steel bar stock for strength and custom rifle precision and has three locking lugs providing exceptional bolt strength.
